Preserving Doctor-Patient Confidentiality

in Recording

Records of the patients must be updated all the time and these should also be confidential. This is what medical practice dictates. At the same time, this is a very thin ground to tread as well.

The medical record of a client is always handled by the doctor and/or his secretary. This means that the history, lab tests, and drugs prescribed to the patient are all listed in the patient records. The doctor’s notes about the patient during check-up are also part of the medical record. These records must be legible enough as this is a legal document. The patient record is where the other members of the health care team will refer too for their plan of action and management of the patient. The medical records can also be used as a form of evidence when malpractice or negligence is suspected.

Doctors are busy most of the time that they feel that someone else can do the history taking and the simple vital signs. This is something that is sometimes overlooked.  Doctors assign these things to their juniors who are far less experienced than them. This can lead to poor client management because there are times that a history may be missed or a value was not entered.

However, today, there are already innovations where you can now enter the data in software or application and retrieve it later on. There are no more papers to be filed and filing cabinets to occupy your clinic. Your secretary will also have fewer things to do. Files will be much more organized and you can easily pull up a record that you want to. You no longer have to worry about lacking and missing documents.

There are no more cabinet spaces to be added.

Now that present day allow you to file clients records virtually, make sure that confidentiality is practiced all the time. Though automated record keeping is simple and easy, there are doctors that tend to forget that it is a very private document that is only to be shared between you and the patient.

If you are worry about backups, then don’t be. There is a web application that will do just that for you. This is also similar when you are going to bill your patients. You only have to enter their information once and billing them will be a breeze.

Billing your patients must not be too hard at all. It is understood that doctors are busy most of the time. So the simpler the things are, the better and more efficient they will be able to work.

A simple online invoice application for doctors will help make the work easier. They can teach their secretaries on how to use the application. Since this is does not include a software to be to be installed, you can access the data anywhere you are, even when you are in conventions.

Record keeping for patients must be done with extreme care and caution so that even when lawsuits happen, you are still protected.
